The west of Cork is a fantastic place for an Irish self-catering holiday. There are lots of unspoilt beaches on the doorstep of this lovely holiday house - miles of sand and rocky coves. The garden area has a lovely playground and is safe for children making this a great place to stay for a family holiday.
There are stunning walks on the cliffs at Toe Head, forest walks at Rineen woods and Lissard estate, visit Knockdrum megalithic fort overlooking the village and explore Lough Hyne which is Ireland's only marine nature reserve. You can arrange a boat trip to see the whales from the harbour, and watersports abound in the area: fishing, diving, sailing and kayaking are all easily available. There are also excellent golf courses at Skibbereen, Lisselan and Bantry.
There is so much to see and do in west Cork and this is a great vacation rental house to stay in if you want to explore this magical part of Ireland.

Accommodation:
On the ground floor is an delightful open plan living room/kitchen/ dining room. It is very stylishly designed and tastefully furnished. Opening off the hall is a WC and a utility room equipped with washing machine and tumble dryer.
The kitchen is modern and fully equipped with Fridge-freezer, Dishwasher, Microwave, Ceramic Hob, and Pyroclean Oven. The living room has glass doors opening onto a compact courtyard garden that is a wonderful sun trap!
On the first floor the Master double bedroom has superb views of Castlehaven harbour to the front whilst the twin bedroom at the rear is equipped with an en-suite shower and toilet. Also on this floor is the main family bathroom. The second floor has one double bedroom and one twin room, both commanding views of the sea and the countryside. There is a modern shower-room on this floor.
Directions:
Castletownshend is c 10km from Skibbereen and 80km from Cork.
From Cork take the N71 (signposted west Cork, Bandon). Drive through the towns of Clonakilty, Rosscarbery and Leap. Take the R596 from Skibbereen, and as you enter Castletownshend the house is located on your left.
