Situated in Ireland's lovely Lake District and with a view of Lough Carra, this lovely cottage is just 1km away from the world famous Lough Mask and within easy reach of Lough Corrib and numerous other fisheries. The lodge is situated in a large (one third acre) enclosed landscaped garden which is safe for children to play in. The cottage has been built in a traditional manner to provide a mix of old world charm with all luxurious modern conveniences. There are breathtaking views over the lake and the Partry mountains viewable from the upstairs lounge.
The cottage has a private pier and full gillie hire is available and the owner, who lives nearby, is a professional fishing guide making it an excellent holiday for anyone interested in fishing. This gorgeous area has many other appealing attractions too - horse-riding, swimming and hillwalking are within easy reach and there are local pubs and restaurants within 2 miles, some providing traditional music. The Lodge is 2km away from the famous Ballinrobe Racecourse which holds Race meetings from April to September, while golfers will enjoy the excellent Championship Course at Ballinrobe.
The Lodge makes a perfect base touring this magical part of the country - Cong, the village where the 'Quiet Man' was filmed, the historic Ashford Castle and the famous Ballintubber Abbey are all within a 12km radius. There are blue flagged beaches within half an hour's drive and Westport, the lovely seaside town is just 20 minutes away. The cottage is also only 15 minutes drive from Castlebar, one of the premier shopping towns in the West of Ireland that boasts many of the major stores, fashion shops, souvenir shops and much more. Further afield is the vibrant and colourful Galway City, just 45 minutes drive. While Clare Island, Achill Island and Connemara make great day trips. Keel River Lodge is also 40 minutes drive to Knock Shrine and Airport.

Accommodation:
Keel River Lodge is a recently-constructed luxury holiday cottage/lodge with old world charm. It is decorated to a high standard with timber floors and oak beams throughout. The cottage is cheerfully lit by Optiflame open fires, while oil central heating keeps it snug. There is a traditional but well-equipped kitchen/diner with a characterful dresser and large table providing comfortable dining for a large group. A utility room contains a washing machine and dryer. This thoughtfully designed cottage has placed the large lounge upstairs where the big windows take advantage of the breathtaking views of Lough Carra and the Partry mountains. Also upstairs, there is a large bedroom with double and single bed which has an ensuite. Downstairs, are the other 2 large bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a double and a single bed. There are also 2 seperate bathrooms on each floor meaning the cottage can accommodate 6-8.
Directions:
From Ballinrobe take the N84 (Castlebar Road) for 4km and you will see our signpost on the left. The signpost says 'Keel River Lodge'.
What's included:
Oil central heating and electricity are charged at cost and are not included in the rental rates of Keel River Lodge. Sorry, no pets. The cottage has a private pier and a full gillie service is available to hire.
