Aanson Lodge,
Killarney, Cork and Kerry

With its three famous lakes and great mountain ranges, Killarney in County Kerry has been the inspiration of poets and painters over many centuries.

The 3 main lakes make up just part of the Killarney National Park famed both for its scenery and scientific interest. There are many other lakes in the mountain crevases, dozens of picturesque cascades and, in the western end of the valley, the summits of MacGillicuddy's Reeks. Walkers will be spoilt for choice - from a two hour tourist trail around Kilarney town to the long distance Kerry Way around the Ring of Kerry.

Take the Gap of Dunloe Tour to see the magical Killarney at its best. Torc Waterfall and Ladies' View are outings that offer the most spectacular views of the valley. The traditional jaunting-cars, water buses or coaches are the best way to see this as cars can only go as far as the carpark. The 21km round trip of the Muckross and Dinis Tour takes in some of the finest and most beautiful scenery in the country.

Any trip to Killarney should find you exploring waterfalls, churches and monuments. While the town itself is an excellent hub for shops and cinemas. For the activity-fan there is angling and water sports, golf, riding, orienteering and canoeing to name but a few. In the evenings, the place groans with pubs offering traditional singing and entertainment.
