The pretty village of Clonbur is only 4km away and has a gorgeous location on a strip of land between two of Ireland's major loughs. The village has two fine restaurants, bars and a supermarket including the sociable Burke's Bar and Restaurant where you will: "Arrive a stranger, leave as a friend".

The area is a small farming and fishing community; there are wonderful walks all ablaze with wildflowers and the area has some of the most dramatic scenery in the West of Ireland.

Hughie's Cottage is bright and airy and offers a beautiful escape from the daily 9 to 5 routine.

Located in the south western corner of the courtyard of Lough Cutra Castle, on the shores of a private lake, this self catering house can sleep as many as nine guests. Originally stabling and storage space before the building burnt down in 1981, out of the ashes rose a house brimming with character and quirkiness. Much more contemporary in internal appearance than one would expect, the house has a large raised open fireplace in the living room, and also a dining area surrounded by a mezzanine balcony. The house is decorated and furnished with big bright art, comfy sofas and accentuated features. With Connemara, the Cliffs of Moher and WB Yeats house on your doorstep, Klaus Cottage is superbly based to explore, relax, enjoy and soak up the atmosphere and varied beauty of Galway and Clare.
